The House of Rising Sun

Remember I mentioned a classic song called "The House of Rising Sun" on my trip to St. Mawes? I found that I made a mistake to say that the song was released in 1970s. In fact, it was sang by Animals in 1964 and was selected as the main theme of the movie in the same name. Here I would like to share the B&W version MV of the song "The House of Rising Sun". This song tells a misery story of a young guy's family in New Orleans. The lyrics is not that hard to understand which I attach following the clip.

The House of Rising Sun (by the Animals, from album: Other Songs)

There is a house
in New Orleans,
they call it Rising Sun.
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy,
and God, I know I'm one.

My mother was a tailores
sewed my new blue jeans
my father was a gamblin' man
down in New Orleans.

Now the only thing a gambler needs
is a suitcase and a trunk.
And the only time he'll be satisfied
is when he's down and drunk.

Oh mother tell your children
not to do what I have done
spend your lives in sin and misery
in the House of the Rising sun.

Well I've got one foot on the platform
the other foot on the train.
I'm going back to New Orleans
to wear that ball and chain.

There is a house in New Orleans,
they call it Rising Sun.
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy,
and God, I know I'm one.
